The history of New Brunswick introduces us to the fierce competition over resources and their transportation. Shipping played an enormous part in colonial interest in Canada and it set the Maritimes up as an important strategic location to be conquered and defended.
While the powers that be fought over who would rule the world, the Wolastoqiyik people lived their lives by the Medicine wheel - an ancient symbol of wisdom in Indigenous culture and taught the newcomers how to survive the bitter winters of their land.
